The Healing Power of Art

Please join us for a very special evening and tour of the art collection of Vancouver General Hospital. Dr. Jack Rootman is a member of the VGH/UBC Art Committee and he will share with us the philosophy and mission of this important collection of contemporary Canadian artists.

Formed in 1999, the Art Committee of VGH/UBC has selected over 1000 vibrant works of art by renowned Canadian artists including Bobbie Burgers, Martha Sturdy, Sylvia Tait, Jamie Evrard, Jack Shadboldt, Sam Lam and many others. The Art Committee's work is in response to a growing body of research showing that using art to create a warm, more attractive environment has a positive impact on the health and well-being of patients, families and hospital staff.
